Martial Arts Biography -

Sensei Christian Becker began his martial arts training at the age of six with Judo, training continuously through his mid-teens and achieving the rank of Brown Belt (1st Kyū). During this time, he also gained early competitive experience at the junior level, which established a strong foundation in discipline, balance, and mental resilience.

At approximately age fifteen, he began formal Karate training, initially in Wado-ryu. Due to instructor and association changes, the dojo transitioned fully to Shotokan Karate, after which all of his training, examinations, and competition activity were conducted exclusively within the Shotokan system.

Sensei Becker trained at SC Banzai Berlin, which from the early 1990s onward taught Shotokan Karate exclusively. Over the years, he progressed steadily through the Kyū grades and achieved 1st Kyū (Brown Belt). He subsequently entered direct preparation for Shodan, which at that time could not be formally completed due to external circumstances related to dojo closure and professional obligations.

His competitive focus was Kumite, including participation in Berlin-level tournaments. Notably, he achieved 1st place at the Berlin Championship (Kumite, −65 kg) and 2nd place in the Berlin Team Championship in 1991.

Following the closure of his dojo, he continued to practice Shotokan Karate independently and consistently over many years. Sensei Becker's training has remained focused on maintaining and refining advanced fundamentals in kihon, kata, and kumite, with particular attention to Ukewaza, Atemiwaza, Nage-waza, and the applied understanding of Bunkai and Oyo-based self-defense principles derived from kata.

Kata practice has remained a central element of his training, including continued work with the Heian kata, Tekki Shodan, Bassai Dai, and Kanku Dai, approached not as examination material, but as a means of deepening understanding, precision, and internal development.

In the early 2010s, Sensei Becker assisted in the instruction of a children’s Karate group, supporting the development of structure, discipline, and respect through martial arts training, particularly for children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

For him, Karate-Dō represents a lifelong path, not a pursuit of rank alone. The principles of respect, responsibility, and self-control cultivated through martial arts training are values he consciously apply in his professional life, his family, and especially in the upbringing of his daughter.

Sensei Becker practice has remained continuous, deliberate, and rooted in the traditional values of Shotokan Karate, reflecting long-term commitment, maturity, and respect for the art.

Professional Biography -

Christian Becker have been working independently as an entrepreneur and consultant for more than 15 years, primarily in the areas of business development, corporate structuring, and certification systems.

Today, he is the Founder and CEO of ZERKOM Solutions GmbH, a European certification and verification company focused on compliance-driven sustainability and regulatory standards. His professional work is shaped by long-term responsibility, integrity, and clear organizational structures.

The discipline, consistency, and accountability required in his professional life are values that strongly align with his lifelong martial arts practice and the principles of Karate-Dō and Budō philosophy.
